Max Kasch

Singer, songwriter Max Kasch’s earliest artistic inspiration came from the radio. At night on his families farm in the Upper Ojai valley of California,  he would listen to the crackle of music over the airwaves and dream up universes and cinematic narratives surrounding the sounds and stories that washed over him.

Max Kasch’s music embodies classic American songwriting, with nods to Appalachia, the big sky country of the west, the irrepressible spirit of blues and jazz and perhaps  most poignantly, the golden light of California.

Drawing through-lines from influences as diverse as as Randy Newman, Bob Dylan, John Steinbeck and the musical melting pot of Los Lobos, Max’s music captures the great clashes of the of the desert-edge of the continent and the Pacific Ocean as well as the vast numbers of people called and compelled by the American West, full of longing for something familiar to hold on to, to be anchored by, while pushing one’s boundaries and what it means to live freely.
